Welcome to PMHA Alliance’s June 2025 Newsletter

Opening Letter from PMHA’s Co-Directors

Dear allies for access and equity,

It is with deep gratitude and renewed purpose that we write to you today. Thanks to the generosity and vision of 20 incredible donors—half of whom are brand new to our movement—PMHA has successfully met our $400,000 fundraising match, unlocking an additional $200,000 from an anonymous donor committed to health equity. Together, this community raised $600,000 in just one month!

This is more than a fundraising milestone. It’s a resounding affirmation of our shared commitment to building a world where access to healing is not a privilege, but a right.

These funds will directly support the next chapter of our work: the launch of our flagship community-led pilot in New Mexico, focused on providing affordable, effective psychedelic care for marginalized individuals living with PTSD—including veterans, first responders, women with histories of sexual trauma, and others who are too often left behind by traditional mental health systems.

This pilot is being shaped by the people it’s meant to serve. Through community engagement led by Dr. Larry Lehman and a trusted research team, we are listening first—centering lived experience, peer-led counseling, and deep collaboration with community-based organizations like the Bernalillo County Community Health Equity Council. Recruitment and treatment are anticipated to begin in late 2025.

The model we’re building in New Mexico will inform how states across the country could implement equitable, affordable psychedelic care systems. We are excited what’s on the horizon with our allies in New Jersey and Indiana.

We’re also investing in long-term sustainability: integrating standardized care metrics, mapping new care models to Medicaid and other payer systems, and studying outcomes and cost savings to demonstrate the value of investing in underserved populations. By designing group-based, community-embedded care models, we aim to reduce costs, expand access, and improve outcomes—making this kind of healing both scalable and just.

This isn’t just policy. It’s people. It’s about ensuring that those with the least access to support are finally seen, heard, and healed.

What we’re building in New Mexico is just the beginning. With your continued support, PMHA will develop a roadmap to bring this model to other states—baking equity and community partnership into the very foundation of care.

We’re honored to be on this journey with you. Happy reading!
